New Collider: Small World 2, Relic and even more 40k video games

The last News Collider was really just a clearing of the backlog of interesting news titbits. This week is on track with table top gaming news fresher than recently washed a towel doused in lenor. In this week’s news blast we have a re-launched Small World Kickstarter, a release date for Relic and not one but two new Warhammer 40,000 video games announced.

Small World 2 Kickstarter

The original Small World 2 Kickstarter was considered by many to be a failure, it was messy, confusing and no-one relay knew what they were actually Kickstarting. So Days of Wonder closed it down and have now re-jigged it and set up a new one. The main aim of the project is to create the videogame versions of Small World for Android devices and Steam. It’s still not as clear as it could be what with all the other stuff going on such as bonus races for the iPad version, expansions for the physical game, a 6 player map board and a super deluxe version of the game.

Free-to-play Warhammer 40k Titans game

Zattika (no I’ve not heard of them either) have announced a new free to play isometric game based on those enormous death machines of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Titans. There’s very little detail at the moment apart from it being planned for PC as well as touch screen devices. The words free-to-play usually strikes fear into my heart as a gamer but until we know more there’s very little to judge it on. On the plus side we can all give it a go without wasting our money

Today’s announcement will see Zattikka develop a game incorporating single, multi-player and social gaming modes, delivering both single and chain mission tactical experiences across a broad platform range, including PC/Mac and tablets.
Big Titans, big guns!

Warahmmer 40,000 Tactical Video Game

It looks like Games Workshop are desperately trying to sell as many video game licences as possible as straight after the Titan game announcement came news that the a Warhammer 40,000 strategy game has been licensed to Slitherine. Slitherine typically make straight faced strategy games for the PC crowd so don’t expect this to be Dawn of War 3 or even remotely similar. Looking at Slitherine’s back catalogue I’m getting flash backs to Final Liberation which may not be a bad thing.

Now imagine this with bright blue tanks!

Relic

Fantasy Flight Games have released a teaser video for the new Talisman based Warhammer 40,000 board game and announced a release data by the end of the month. We’re very excited by this and will be writing a review very soon after launch.
