Eminence: Xander's Tales has hit Kickstarter

Eminence: Xander's Tales
Eminence: Xander’s Tale, the card collecting video game we featured a few months back, has hit Kickstarter. Influenced by the triple triad card game from Final Fantasy VIII, Eminence blends the card battling and collecting features of trading cards games and mixes them with an exploration reminiscent of Pokémon and 8 bit Zelda titles.

Not only does Eminence try to add exploration and rpg elements to a collectible card game it also takes an interesting approach to the stakes of battle. Before a match you have to bet a number of cards from your collection. Lose the match and you could lose those cards to your opponent but win and you’ll steal cards from you opponent’s collection. It’s going to be interesting to see how this pans out, hopefully the game is balanced enough and the matching competent enough that you’re not just going to get owned by the players with the super hard decks and therefore lose all your best cards in the process.

The most striking thing about Eminence is its art style, mixing beautiful stained glass inspired card art with Bastion-like cutesy characters. The game’s developers, Aeterna Studios, are promising that the isometric landscape isn’t just an out of game hub but a rich world to explore that will be full of NPCs as well as other players to battle.

Eminence is originally being developed for iOS with an Android version being the first stretch goal. Aeterna Studios are also looking to bring the game to PC via Steam and are currently gathering votes Steam Greenlight.

Eminence: Xander’s Tale is looking for £50,000 and the project close on 7th October.
