FALLOUT WASTELAND WARFARE RPG
Fallout Wasteland Warfare RPG Board Game News

Modiphius has done something really quite new, different and exciting, releasing an expansion for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare Miniatures Game that turns it into an RPG. You can switch between the two types of game, or use the “expansion” as a stand-alone RPG experience.

The RPG book comes with everything you'd expect and need to start playing the bottle cap collecting RPG.  Additionally,  every copy comes with a code for a PDF copy of the rule book, printable character and weapon cards taken from the miniatures game, character archetypes and a printable play mat.  So if you don’t own the miniatures game you can still access the components that you’ll need/want.
Now all you need is a taste for adventure in a post-nuclear world.

TALISMAN: BATMAN SUPER-VILLAINS EDITION
Talisman Batman Super Villains Edition Board Game News

Last week news broke about the licensed Talisman game that got quite a few people excited...if not moderately interested. Ahead of the GAMA Trade show and eagle-eyed Reddit user noticed that the OP had included a picture of Talisman Batman in their entry in the show’s catalogue of exhibitors. A few days later news was officially released.  It’s a Batman license, but not as you might expect.

In this version of the game, you'll be playing as some of the most notorious villains to ever wreak havoc on the streets of Gotham City.  However, you're all locked away in the deepest, darkest depths of Arkham Asylum.  Players will work through two floors of their prison, gaining health, strength and cunning all of which will be needed to thwart the Dark Knight who sits in the central tower.  The game will include 13 plastic miniatures, over 100 cards (with artwork taken from the "New 52" Era of DC comics) and can be played both competitively or cooperatively.

UNMATCHED FROM RESTORATION GAMES
Unmatched Board Game News

Whoever really wants a fair fight?  The loser usually, but that notwithstanding, Restoration games are doing their thing and breathing new life into a classic game.  Their focus this time upon Star Wars: Epic Duels, which later went on to become Heroscape.

This is a miniatures skirmish game, where each player takes on a role from...well...pretty much anything.  They collect their unique and specific deck of cards and duke it out against...well...whoever really.

The beauty and charm of this game lies in the IP potentials.  Battle of Legends Volume 1 The box set will contain King Arthur, Alice, Medusa and Sinbad, and the first expansion—Robin Hood Vs Bigfoot—introduces...well...Robin Hood and Big Foot, obviously.  However, there is already a limited edition Bruce Lee and a Buffy the Vampire pack set to launch this year too.  With the right licensing agreements players could experience any match from movies, myth, cartoons or comics.

Unmatched will be launching at Gen Con later this year.

JUDGE DREDD: HELTER SKELTER A WILDLANDS GAME
Judge Dredd Helter Skelter Wildlands Board Game News

Helter Skelter is basically a 2000 AD version of Wildlands, taking all of the core mechanisms and putting a Mega-City One twist on it all.

Here, some of 2000 ADs most well-known titles like the Judges, Strontium Dog, Sláine and Nikolai Dante will meet and duke it out for their fragment of reality.  Not only will each faction have their own Faction specific deck they'll also have special character abilities for you to master and exploit.

The game will come with highly detailed 28-32mm miniatures, will be out in October and will hopefully be previewed at UK Games Expo (I hope at least).

PATHFINDER 2ND EDITION
Pathfinder Second Edition RPG Board Game News

Anyone who knows anything about anything, or at least something about current tabletop role-playing games, won’t really be surprised with the official announcement of the second edition of the Pathfinder RPG.  The playtest version of the rules has been out for some time and but now the release of PF2 (as the internet is abbreviating it) has been officially announced and a release date set.

Launching in August (so Gen Con then) the initial release will include hardback versions of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook and the Bestiary, as well as a new adventure path, meaning you will have enough to start adventuring straight away.  Pathfinder’s latest iteration draws on 20 years of game development experience and promises a streamlined version of the Pathfinder experience but still with the crazy level of player customisation options.

NEW ABADDON THE DESPOILER MINIATURE
Abbadon the Despoiler New Model Board Game News

There’s a good chance that if you’re reading this then at some point you were sucked in the wallet-draining hole that is Games Workshop (you may still be in said hole), in which case Abaddon the Despoiler won’t need much of an introduction.  If you’re not familiar with him he The bad guy to end all bad guys in the 41st Millenium, a-bad-un you could say…

Anyway, as Games Workshop roll out the new Chaos Space Marines miniatures Adoddon gets a great big new miniature and the sculptors have gone all out with an optional cloak, a choice of 3 heads and under his boot there is the crushed form of a fallen space marine, which you can paint in your friends colour scheme.

PLAYING BOARD GAMES HELPS YOU LIVE LONGER

Okay, so there is no science here at all...in fact, it’s all conjecture...based on an article I read in the Sun...but stick with me here, after the next 60 odd words you’ll be able to quote me as saying playing board games helps you live longer.  You’ll know it’s bollocks, but they won’t ;)

The Guinness World Records has, as of 9th March 2019, recognised 116-year-old Kane Tanaka as the oldest living person.  She was presented with her certificate and a box of chocolates (which she apparently loves) at the res home in Fukuoka, Japan.  Kane is an “expert” at Othello player, calling it one of her favourite past times, alongside eating chocolate. So based on some serious scientific rigour, Polyhedron Collider can confidently say that the secret to long life is a game of Blood Rage while eating a Dairy Milk.

AIRECON
Airecon Convention Board Game News

Last weekend was Airecon, a UK board game convention that is growing up quick since its inception in 2016 in Mark’s house.  Since 2017 Airecon has been held at the Harrogate Convention Centre and this year, on top of boasting Europe’s largest open gaming space (3,700 setas) it had a 40% increase to visitors, 4,003 unique attendees, two of which were our very own Jon Cage and Steve Tudor.

This has been the 4th Airecon that Polyhedron Collider has attended, and over just a few short years we have seen the convention grow from a tiny church hall to almost the entire convention centre. At this rate, Airecon will envelop the globe by 2025.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ben, Mark and everyone else who worked hard to create an awesome, friendly and welcoming gaming space.
