Polyhedron Collider Imperial Miners Board Game Review

During the UK Games Expo, Steve and I were lucky enough to get the chance to sit down and play Imperial Miners, the upcoming release from Portal Games.

Imperial Miners is a lightweight, quick tableau/engine builder, more than that though it is a brain-tingling and rewarding game. Over the course of ten rounds, in which you’ll play a card each round, you will gradually build a mine/engine of greater complexity for greater and greater rewards.

Phantom Ink Board GAme Review- Box Art

Phantom Ink isn't my usual type of game.  It's a party deduction game based on spelling.  So, I was pleasantly surprised when my first game ended to discover I had enjoyed myself enormously.  So we played again

And again.

And again.

What I had thought to be a very light game that we would play for a bit and then move on to something else not only got stuck to the table, every table nearby was watching and listening to what we were playing.  As other games ended people drifted over to see "what all the fuss" was about.

I've been told to bring it along to the next game night too.
Episode 128 - Autobahn, Furnace, Pandemic Iberia and D&D Honor Among Thieves

Join the boys from the Collider as they discuss Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and optimal cinema seating considerations.

Andy and Rory recap their mammoth 11 hour gaming day which started with Autobahn from Alley Cat Games, the excellent little engine builder: Furnace from Arcane Wonders and then look back to 2016 and a great twist on Pandemic with Pandemic Iberia from Z Man Games.

Some great listen questions end the show followed by a shameless plug for the live Podcast recording during the  UK Games Expo.

Episode 127 - 10 Candles, Micromacro, and who road Pegasus?

Join the boys from the PHC for another bag of board gaming goodies. In this episode Rory plays in the dark in 10 Candles, Andy goes hunting for clues in MicroMacro: Crime City, and we have an argument about Pegasus. We also delve into the mail bag to discuss board  games taking up too much table space and can a board game replicate the feeling of an RPG?

Race to the Raft, Lost Ruins of Arnak and Woodcraft

Andy has been to Airecon, so not only has he got a truck full of board games to talk about, he's also got lots of dirty street food to discuss, including the lowdown on Race to the Raft, Heat and the new game from Dávid Turczi (aka Big Davey T). Andy then gives the rest of the crew a chance to talk as we discuss Lost Ruins of Arnak and Woodcraft.
Episode 125 - Thunderbirds Weather Machine Kingdom Death Monster

Back with a heavy portion of board gaming banter, the boys from the PHC talk about food poisoning, brush stealing kittens, Thunderbirds, Weather Machine and Kingdom Death Monster. We then reach into the overflowing mail bag to ponder what we would do with more time and are games getting to nice.

Its back to the regular format, and we kick things off with an in depth look into the D&D OGL debacle, before trying to work out what the hell is going on in Tiletum, and printing money in QE.

The Polyhedron Collider Cast Episode 123 - The games we are looking forward to in 2023

It’s time to gaze into the crystal ball and consult the tarot deck we list the board games and tabletop roleplaying games that we are looking forward to playing in 2023. It is of course an eclectic mix of heavy eurogames, miniature laden dungeon crawls, and fantasy RPGs.

The Polyhedron Collider Cast Episode 122 - The Best Games we Played in 2022

2022 has drawn to a close, so the boys from PHC size up their favourite games of the year, or at least their favourite games they've played this year, as all four podcasters can't seem to count.

In addition to the best of the best, we also look back at our biggest dissapointments, while Andy tries to award his insert of choice, but gets derailed in the process by Sid.
